I was not productive enough to sew on this December. Somehow, my time spent on blog walking and find sewing tutorials and gardening tips for my gardening blog. This overall is the second item that I made in this month, in addition to superhero cape that I have written in a previous tutorial.
I sew overalls for Ihsan. So the pattern in this tutorial is suitable for 12-18 months. I use a soft denim, the same material as that used in simple short tutorial. This material is washed out at the start of use, so be sure to wash them separately. I also put on jeans buttons as additional decoration.
Soft Denim, about 100cm
4 button, I use jeans buttons
How to :
This pattern is actually made up of five parts, there is a rectangular piece measuring 4 x 8 cm that haven’t described here. This parts is used as a flap to put buttons. Patterns below does not include seam allowance.
Cut part A, part B, part C respectively as much as 2 pieces. Cut part D of 4 pieces. Cut also a part of the fabric resembles B, but with a height of about 10-12 cm as the inner layer.
On the pattern of the front (part A), sewing upper thighs with both sides facing each other.
Assemble front bottom that has previously sewn to the front top (part C), with the right side face each other.
Attach the inner layer on the front top. Stitch around it and then reverse. In order to produce a neat edge and taper after reversed, seam allowance at the corners can be cut.
The front of the overalls would look like this
The next step is to create shoulder straps. Take two parts of the shoulder strap with both sides facing each other, sewing around it except the bottom, then turn as the right side is the outside. Do the same for the other two pieces of strap parts.
As I pointed out earlier in the beginning of this article, there are pieces of the part that I have not been described in the pattern. This part is flaps. Cut two fabric measuring 5 x 8 cm . Fold this piece with right side facing each other, sewing around it, and reverse. Do the same thing on the other pieces. The result will be like the flap in the picture below
on the back pattern, sew the fabric at the upper thighs as shown below
Place the strap that had been stitched on the upper of the back pattern (B), and the flap on the side.
Stack layers in with the right side facing each other. Sew the edges except the bottom because it will be used to reverse
After reversed, the result looks like the image below.
Combine the front to the rear. Sew the side and bottom of the thigh. Reverse. Do not forget to put on jeans buttons and buttonhole and become cool overalls for toddlers !!
