One of my friends in Makassar has given birth to a baby girl in this month. To share happiness, I made a dress out of cotton for this little girl. After looking for inspiration, I decided to make a sleeveless dress with a big ribbon on the chest and with floral pink rose patterned fabric . Its so adorable! This tutorial will generate dress for babies aged 6-9 months. You can enlarge the chest and long skirt to adapt the baby’s age.
Cotton, about 0.5 m
How To :
To make this dress pattern is not needed at all. It’s easy, right? Cut two pieces cotton measuring 44 x 15 cm for the chest, 80 x 26 cm for the lower skirt, 10 x 25 cm to make ribbons, and two pieces of 6 x 18 cm for the shoulder straps.
For the bottom of the skirt, wrinkle the top of fabrics using baste as shown below.
Sew the chest with lower skirt with the right sides of the fabric are facing each other. Make sure both ends meet neatly.
Attach the invisible zipper on both ends of the fabric. So that the result is neater, zipper can be sewn first by hand, then sewn by machine,
Fold the shoulder strap lengthwise into two parts with the good side facing each other. Sew and then reverse so the right side of fabric is outside. The end result is a strap with a size of about 2 x 18 cm. Attach both ends of the strap in place as appropriate. I put the front strap at a distance of 4 cm from the tip of the armpits, and put the strap back with a distance of 5 cm from the the tip of the armpits.
Put one layer of the chest with the right sides facing each other over the previously installed strap . Sew around the top. Close the inside with hand sewn so that the result is neater. Sew the lower hem around the bottom of the skirt too.
To create a ribbon, ribbon fold the two parts of equal size. Fold the right side facing each other. Sew around, leave a small portion to reverse. Wrinkle the middle to set up a a ribbon. Create a flap with the same fabric as the ribbon binder, sew around it.
Attach the ribbon in the center of the chest.
and voila, you made it!
